The Local Authority Offer
The Children and Families Bill became law in 2014. From then Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25. This is the ‘Local Offer’.
The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice and transparency for families. It is an important resource for parents/carers in understanding the range of services and provision in the local area.
The Federation SEN Information Report
This utilises the LA Local Offer to meet the needs of SEN pupils as determined by the schools policy, and the provision that the schools are able to meet.

Mainstream Core Standards:
School are expected to make ‘best endeavours’ in supporting all pupils. High-quality teaching, differentiated for individual pupils is the first step in responding to pupils who have or may have SEN. The Main Stream Core Standards are a set of documents to inform and support schools in designing their SEN practice. The documents are intended to ensure the most appropriate intervention for an individual so that they can make progress both in their well-being and attainment at school and to evidence the school’s best endeavours.
